CHIEF KEFAS GIVES OUT END OF YEAR GIFTS TO PROJECT 60:23 EXCOS AND AIDES
The National Coordinator of Project 60:23 for Atiku/Okowa was in a joyous mood as he liased with State and Local government coordinators at the campaign office
In an act thats only carried out by thoughtful and natural born leaders, the national coordinator for Project 60:23 for Atiku/Okowa, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik was in the spirit of the holidays as he distributed gifts and food items to political aides in Jos
The event, which was held at the recently commissioned Project 60:23 office at Secretariat Junction, provided a forum for interaction and idea sharing between state and local government coordinators in preparation for the impending election campaign.
Hon. Joseph Lavern Ubandoma, the State Coordinator for Project 60:23, welcomed everyone to the event and gave a rousing speech. His main message to the aides in attendance was to work tirelessly for the success of the party in the polls and to put old grudges behind them.
“Most of the people who challenged me during my elections in Langtang are the ones I bring close to me because there is something they see me in that I might not be able to see. So your past opponent can be your best ally. It is time to work together so we deliver 5/5 for the party on all levels”
In order to honor Mr. Matthew Akawu, the PDP candidate who tragically lost his life while running for the Pengassa Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, the national coordinator, observed a moment of silence before beginning his statement. He reiterated the purpose of the meeting after the observance.
“We came into politics for a purpose, it is for humanity and not a do or die affair. And thats why we are exhibiting it today that we came into politics with a clear heart. Regardless of the outcome, we appreciate God and we are moving. This gathering is to appreciate everyone and to carry everyone along because that is the essence of governance”
He promised the guests present to always be there for them and to carry them along in all his future endeavours
“I made a promise and I will keep my promise by Gods grace. I will continue to carry people along because it is not only during elections you find people. I dont just want to use you. We went into it as one, lost as one, and we will continue as one. This is a period of celebration and I feel all of you who supported us politically deserve what we gave to widows and orphans. I saw the need to equally give you the little to say thank you. thats the main reason for being here. It might not be big but please take the intention and if God open more ways, we will do more”
He talked about the need for working with people who have opposed you in the past in one form or the other as a sign of strength and not weakness.
“For every smart politician, it is only wise that you bring people who have opposed you in the past because of their strength. Some people begin to see their opponents as enemies and this is quite unfortunate.
Chief Kefas stressed the importance of the coming election and the magnitude of what is at stake and the work needed to get the party over the line
“I expect our party leaders to identify people in areas of strength so we can form a formidable team going into 2023 elections. I keep telling people PDP cannot afford to lose 2023. We have suffered from 2019 till date and we need to work and it has to start from the presidential on the 25th down to the other ballot races. It is a bandwagon effect. 2/2 will be be easier when 3/3 emerges. We should all come out and work for the principal of PDP in this presidential election”
Going further, he tried to contrast the three candidates in contention for the presidency while making the case that Alh. Atiku Abubakar as the most suitable man for the job.
“Keep the three candidates and analyse them on your own and no one stands out like Atiku Abubakar, On the APC, anytime he goes out for any outing, he has one or two failures, everything about him is fake from his date of birth and qualifications, all fake. Also age is not by his side. He is supposed to know that its past his time. The Labour party candidate cannot get 70 percent in the North so why will we waste our vote? He always claims he has same ideology with Atiku so why not follow the man with the experience? Atiku Abubakr is business oriented and his businesses have never gone bankrupt because they are always handled by professionals without religious sentiments”
He kicked against politics with religious sentiments and encouraged those present to see politics being an interest game. He admonished the people present to strive to protect their interest.
“Politics is all about interest and Alh. Atiku Abubakar is in our best interest. Before now, how many Plateau people know Peter Obi? what is his impact on individuals? none. Lets go back to emilokan! As far as am concerned, its only Lalong, Maje, Or Yusuf Gagdi he knows, who has he empowered? Atiku knows more than 50 to 100 names individually. He owns a home for the past 30 years and a street with his name. If Atiku wins, he will be in the best position to protect our interest”
The event ended with vote of thanks from select LGA coordinators as well as the Women Leader of the Northern Zone who all encouraged the members present to be part of a concerted movement to deliver for the party at all levels and subsequently gifts and cash were distributed by the national coordinator to his subordinates.
Very interested God bless us all members of PDP
